In addition to the debates on Oct. 15 and 20 at URI, the Journal is co-sponsoring a poll to gauge those races and ask voters how they feel about key issues facing the state and the nation.
The Providence Journal, in partnership with Rhode Island Public Radio, is sponsoring debates featuring the candidates for governor and U.S. senator.
Four candidates for governor — incumbent Democrat Gina Raimondo, Republican Allan Fung, independent Joe Trillo and William Gilbert of the Moderate Party — will debate at 7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 15.
Two candidates for U.S. Senate — incumbent Democrat Sheldon Whitehouse and Republican Robert Flanders — will debate at 6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 20.
Both debates will be at Edwards Hall, at the University of Rhode Island.
The debates will be broadcast live on Rhode Island Public Radio and will be streamed live on providencejournal.com and ripr.org.
Additionally, The Providence Journal, Rhode Island Public Radio and ABC 6 are co-sponsoring a poll measuring the races for governor and Senate, and how voters feel about key issues facing the state and the nation.
First results of the poll will be released in the coming week.
