The Ocean Community Chamber of Commerce’s Eighth Annual Ocean Community Restaurant Week has launched in the greater Westerly-Pawcatuck, Connecticut, area and will continue through Sunday, Oct. 28. The Olde White Church 11th Annual Veterans Meat Pie Supper will be held Friday, Nov. 9, from 4 to 7:30 p.m. at the First Congregational Church, 1113 GAR Highway, Swansea. The “Donation Only” buffet-style supper features a quarter-slice of Willow Tree meat pie, whipped potatoes, veggies, gravy, rolls and dessert. All donations will be used to buy food and service gift cards, which are distributed throughout the year to Swansea veterans in need.

In addition to donating unsold doughnuts to Amos House at the end of each day, Knead Doughnuts has launched a campaign to raise funds for the agency. , which for decades has helped people in dire straits rebuild their lives. From now through Nov. 3, customers can dream up their own doughnut, drop by either Knead Doughnuts locations — 135 Elmgrove Ave. or 32 Custom House St., both in Providence — and fill out a contest entry form for a $1 donation. The winner will have their doughnut made and sold. Knead will match all contest sales dollar-for-dollar.

Fluke Newport is open Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings for dinner, but during Newport Restaurant Week (Nov. 2-11) they will extend hours to every night except Monday, offering both a $35 and $50 three-course meal.
The latest episode of “TV Maitre d’ with Joe Zito,” which airs Sundays at 11 a.m. on Fox Providence and at 11:30 a.m. on Channel 12, will feature visits to Richard’s Pub, Tumblesalts Café, Rooftop at the Providence G, Skyline at Waterplace, Rachel’s Café, Venda Ravioli and Trattoria Romana.
