Bowen’s Wharf Seafood Festival is this weekend, with more than 30 culinary vendors, 20 year-round boutiques, and six live bands participating in the two-day, rain-or-shine celebration of the Harvest of the Sea. It’s all at Bowen’s Wharf, downtown Newport, (401) 849-2243, bowenswharf.com. There will be plenty of local seafood, as well as other foods, cocktails and beer. Water and art activities, face painting, touch tanks and cooking demonstrations will be held at Market Square as part of the day-long events planned for Saturday, Oct. 13, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Sunday, Oct. 14, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sponsors include Moet & Chandon USA, Whalers Brewing, Belvedere Vodka, Captain Morgan Rum, Cloudy Bay Vineyards, Ardbeg Whisky and the Diageo brand.
Smith’s Castle Harvest Festival: Dairy Days, 55 Richard Smith Drive, North Kingstown, (401) 294-3521, smithscastle.org, will be Saturday, Oct. 13, from noon to 4 p.m. Rain date is Sunday. In addition to Colonial games, there will be apple crisp, house tours of the first floor, University of Rhode Island Master Gardeners on hand, farm exhibits and demonstrations of butter and cheese making. Adult tickets are $8, 65+/military and veterans $6, ages 6-12 $4, 5 and younger/members free. Family cap is $20.
Apples & Eats Fall Fest will be held Saturday, Oct. 13, at the Coastal Growers Market, Casey Farm, 2325 Boston Neck Rd., North Kingstown, (401) 295-1030. Fall- and apple-inspired cuisine, and drinks by local restaurants and food artisans, and an apple pie baking contest (everyone is encouraged to bring their favorite homemade pie to the festival for the chance to win market merchandise).
