Video: Patrice Bergeron scored two goals in Bruins’ 4-1 Game 4 win

The Bruins beat the Blue Jackets 4-1 in Game 4 of their second-round series at Nationwide Arena in Columbus Thursday.

Patrice Bergeron, quiet through the series’ first three games, scored twice. Artemi Panarin scored the Blue Jackets’ only goal in the first period. Tuukka Rask made 39 saves on 40 shots against, while Columbus goalie Sergei Bobrovsky made 42 saves on 46 shots.

Here are all the goals from the night:

First period

David Pastrnak, 1-0 Bruins

Early in the first period, Charlie McAvoy fired a long pass to David Pastrnak, who has been quiet thus far in the series. Pastrnak’s one-time slapshot trickled into the net through a sprawling Bobrovsky.

Patrice Bergeron, 2-0 Bruins

About four minutes later, the Bruins took advantage of a quality offensive zone entry. Another long pass across the zone put the puck on Patrice Bergeron’s stick, and he shot glove high on Bobrovsky for his first goal of the series.

Artemi Panarin, 2-1 Bruins

The Blue Jackets got on the scoreboard in spite of the puck bouncing off the protective netting behind the net after Seth Jones’ original shot. For a moment, none of the players on the ice could locate the puck. It bounced back on to the ice to the right of Rask’s net, where Oliver Bjorkstrand picked it up. His backhand scoring attempt was turned away by Rask, but Panarin scored on the rebound.

Play should have been ruled dead when the puck bounced into the protective netting, but the on-ice officials missed the call. The league would not permit a video review of the play since the puck had not been directed immediately into the goal after it hit the netting.

Second period

There were no goals scored in the second period.

Third period

Sean Kuraly, 3-1 Bruins

Zdeno Chara’s slapshot from the blue line went wide left of the Columbus net. It bounced back in front of the net, and neither Bobrovsky nor Columbus defenseman David Savard could prevent Sean Kuraly from scoring on the lucky hop.

Patrice Bergeron, 4-1 Bruins

Bobrovsky allowed a rebound of David Pastrnak’s quick shot on the power play, and Patrice Bergeron’s stick slapped the puck into the net before either Bobrovsky or defenseman Scott Harrington could react.

The Bruins-Blue Jackets series swings back to TD Garden in Boston for Game 5 Saturday night at 7:15 p.m.
